Friends who are familiar with silicone products must know that vulcanized silicone products require mold opening before they can be made into finished products, and the cost is generally not low. Xianghong precision molding and customization manufacturers often encounter customers who are ignorant of molding and do not know how much it will cost to customize silicone products.

Before opening the mold, we first need to prepare 3D drawings (or design renderings) or physical samples of the silicone product. If the customer only has vague reference images and ideas, we can also help them turn their ideas into 3D design drawings, then mold them, and finally make their dreams come true. Of course, this requires silicone product factories to have the ability to draw and design, which is generally lacking in small factories.


After confirming the drawing file, it is necessary to evaluate the size of the mold and the materials used based on the customer's customized quantity and total demand quantity. Let's give a simple example: for example, if a customer needs more than 100000 and there is a long-term demand, the factory should suggest that the customer can expand the mold and use special steel materials that can have a longer service life. There are two issues here: firstly, the more holes there are (which is not absolute), the lower the unit price of the product; The second reason is that the lifespan of conventional P20 steel molds is only about 50000 times. So before opening the mold, it is important to inform the manufacturer so that they can provide you with the most cost-effective solution.

There are two main types of silicone product molding, one is molding, and the other is liquid silicone injection (also known as silicone injection molding). This means that the corresponding silicone molds for these two types of molding are also different. The first type belongs to the compression mold, which generally consists of only two mold cores (including upper, middle, and lower), suitable for producing solid silicone products with flat vulcanization machines. Another type is liquid silicone mold. Compared to the first solid mold, the structure of liquid silicone mold is much more complex. Its components are divided into: cold channel needle valve control layer, cold channel cold nozzle, insulation layer, mold core, electric heating tube, auxiliary mold closing device, ejection device, etc. We will provide a detailed introduction about liquid silicone mold next time.


Finally, let's talk about how much it costs to customize and mold silicone products. Solid silicone molds are relatively much cheaper, ranging from a few thousand to ten thousand, depending on the size of the mold and the structure of the product. And liquid silicone molds are much more expensive, usually in the tens of thousands or more.
